Not quite certain what to think
Just a few inches too long
"waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh...."
The calm before the storm
The storm
Immediately after this picture was taken, Kaelen managed to kick off his shoes. I put them back on and turned my back... 5 seconds later they were back off again and he gave me a look that very clearly said "I wouldn't if I were you." I'm not afraid of him, but I decided it really wasn't worth the battle.
Before we could get on the road, I had to go around the apartment and make sure we had every possible thing we would need. I really need to get a ginormous diaper bag for those occassions when the regular bag won't work. Kennedy couldn't understand why we could possibly need so much stuff, and it turns out we didn't... this time. The one time we don't bring it is when we will need it. Murphy's Law.
Kaelen behaved very well as long as the car was moving. If the car stopped for any reason, he growled until the car started moving again, and then he went back to sleep! Five minutes after arriving at our destination and meeting everyone, Kaelen proceeded to spit up all over one of our friends! At least it wasn't poop!
We had a very fun trip. We'd like to drive out to the coast one of these days, but since Kennedy is busy at work and gas prices are quite high, we'll probably just drive around the neighborhood looking for a house.
On Sunday we decided to go to church for the first time with Kaelen. Once again, the royal we decided to dress Kaelen up for the occasion, but this time I decided no shoes (I can be taught).
Everybody oohhhed and aahhed when we came in. Kaelen lasted only a few minutes in the car seat, and then he decided he wanted to be up looking at people and things. Luckily mom was the closest, so she got to entertain him! He was quiet during the sacrament, but not exactly reverent... he was quite a busy body. We'll have to work on that. He was fairly good during testimony meeting - he laughed at the counselor who was conducting, and then he fell asleep. Lucky him!
He woke up at the end of the meeting and let us all know he was hungry, but, being the dumb people we are, we ignored him. Instead we went back to introduce Kaelen to his new friend Tate, a 4 month old in the ward. (Our ward has only a handful of families with small children.) While we were visiting Tate and his mom, we got caught up in the hordes of grandmothers who wanted to admire Kaelen. They were all amazed at how beautiful he is and how much hair he has!! (Tate is pretty much bald - his parents are both blondes.)
We finally escaped and brought Kaelen home in his stroller. We'll tackle the full set of meetings another week (maybe... I'm going to use him as an excuse to miss Primary for as long as I can!!) For now, it's nap time. Somebody please tell that to Kaelen....
