Blessing Day/Fun in the Park

Today we had a double celebration - Kaelen's blessing day and Nandi (Kaelen's cousin)'s sixth birthday. We actually made it to church early (apparently the magic ratio is 4 adults to 1 baby...), and we pretty much doubled the congregation (kidding... kind of)! We played a great round of pass the baby. He was just too cute. Of course mom only got him when he was screaming, but that's okay. I guess I was lucky to get to hold him at all!

Kaelen was in a good mood when Kennedy went up to bless him, and it was fairly entertaining, what with Kennedy "accidentally" naming him Nandi (he quickly corrected it back to Kaelen Nandi - the real Nandi was sitting next to me and didn't seem to mind sharing his name with his cousin). You could hear Kaelen in the background saying "eh uh, eh uh...". And apparently Ella (9 month old cousin) decided that if Kaelen could talk during the blessing then she could too, because she soon added her two cents. I was trying not to laugh during all of this, and my mom was trying to get me to settle down. Some things never change!

After the blessing we visited with friends for a bit and then headed off to the park for some fun. It was an absolutely gorgeous day. And other than random dogs walking up to inspect the food and the kids (it's a no leash park), we all had a great time. Nandi and Liam (age 4) played soccer and baseball with dad and Uncle Ken, Ella hung out with both Grandmas, and Kaelen went off with Grandpa to look at the boats and take a nap (at one point Grandpa and Kaelen were laid out on a bench with the blanket over both their heads... we were worried someone might think Grandpa was homeless or something!).

Before the crowd headed back up to Seattle, the boys had a rousing WWF match with my father. It was pretty funny, and in the end "Grandpa Steve" had to concede defeat, as that was the only way they were ever going to stop tackling him! Apparently there's a competitive gene in the family!

It was a great day, and maybe next time we'll remember to take pictures of everyone in their sunday clothes!! Oh well. Nobody's perfect.

Great action shot, no?

I'm pretty sure he hits the ball...

"Unka Ken, will you play baseball with me..." (the answer was a long drawn out pause... shortly thereafter his mother went out to play with him... mean Unka Ken)
